Our
history
The history of the Klockerhof starts in 1958.
Our grandparents Elisabeth and Josef Koch moved from the lower village in Lermoos up to the Widum district and started to build up the Klockerhof in this wonderful panorama location.
The original name of our house comes from the profession of our great-grandfather, who used to make various cowbells as a blacksmith.
Our ancestors have been exporting these bells to neighboring countries since the 17th century.
At this time, the house was still mainly used for farming, but five simple double rooms were also built.
Ten years later, in 1968, a further extension was made from 5 to 10 guest rooms.
In 1972, our grandparents decided to run the Klockerhof as a guesthouse and offer half-board to guests.
The barn and the cattle shed gave way to the new building, where 12 new guest rooms of a higher standard were built.
During this time, our father, who had gained a lot of experience from previous jobs, came home to start his work in the kitchen.
Sadly, our grandfather Josef passed away in 1975.
In 1980, we had a lot to celebrate: firstly, our parents Anton and Johanna got married in May.
Secondly, Christian was also born that year.
The next renovation started – in 1984 we extended our house again with a few more comfortable rooms.
Christian also had a sibling that year – our sister Martina was born in July.
As all good things come in threes, I, Michaela, joined in January 1986 and completed the family.
This was followed in 1989 by a further renovation, during which two family rooms and two apartments were added.
This year also saw the final relocation of the farm from the Klockerhof to our “Stadl” in the Moos-district.
Four years later, in 1993, we built the current Stüberl with the bar area and the ski room.
In 2000, Christian completed his time at the Villa Blanka hotel management school in Innsbruck and spent some time in various hotels until he joined his parents’ business at home a few years later.
Shortly afterwards, our beloved grandma Elisabeth sadly passed away.
Three years later, in 2003, we decided to renovate again and build a wellness area.
Since completing my 4-year tourism degree in Innsbruck in September 2008, I have also decided to support my parents and my brother and successfully develop our business together.
From then on, my brother Christian and I took over the running of the Klockerhof, always accompanied by our parents, who actively support us.
In 2011, we decided to develop our Klockerhof again and turn the former 3-star hotel into a 4-star one.
Of course, this again involved some renovation work, which we managed to do between March 2011 and the end of August 2011 with the help of many hard-working hands.
As the business is always moving forward, we have also expanded the family.
Michaela and Martin as well as Claudia and Christian became parents in recent years, which of course makes us doubly happy within the family, but also as a family-run business.
We hope you were able to gain a little insight into the history of the Klockerhof and we would be very pleased to welcome you personally!
